Dream Big, Live Large!

4 out of 5 Dreamers recommend DBLL

Vancouver Aquarium, Vancouver, Canada

Opened in 1956, the Vancouver Aquarium is the largest aquarium in Canada and the fifth largest aquarium in North America. It was also the first aquarium in the world to ever capture and display an Orca whale.

Another great thing about the Vancouver Aquarium is that it was the first aquarium (perhaps…) to capture and display human children in a dome for our amusement.

Marine conservation and education is a major focus of the Vancouver Aquarium.  It was actually the first aquarium in the world to employ professional naturalists and interpretive specialists in the galleries and exhibits to educate visitors on animal behaviour.  It also heavily sponsors and organizes world-wide conservation initiatives, including the collection and removal from the ocean of over 85 metric tons of garbage in 2007.

When you’re not watching the “children fish” get your “wonder fix” by staring endlessly at the moon jellyfish.

Everyone’s favourite part though, of course, is the animals.  And what show can compare with jumping dolphins?  None!  It’s by far the highlight of the exhibit, but make sure you get a spot early or else you’ll be forced to climb a tree in order to see.

The Big Show! Everyone loves the jumping dolphins. You will too, but not as much if you don’t get there early.

When you’re in Vancouver, make sure you go see the dolphins (and everything else) at the Vancouver Aquarium.

WOW! My MBA feels so small now. Love the capture on that dolphins shot.

Thanks rommel. I just had a handheld compact, so it was tough to get a good shot when the dolphins were jumping. I’m glad it turned out as well as it did.

The panning effect makes it better and real than the clear ones. Awesome shot! This is urging me to go to Seaworld.

Woah, you’ve been to so many interesting places. Are you a traveling reporter or something? 😀 The last post was about a seaside temple in Korea and this one is in Canada!

Ha ha, I wish! This isn’t a live blog. I took all of these photos from previous trips. I’m simply sharing my favourite places with others, and asking them to write a short guest post about a place they’ve been to and enjoyed. I did do a lot of travelling between 2009 and 2010 though.
